Who we are
Nest Grain operates the website at nestgrain.com. In data-protection terms we are the controller of the personal information described below. For any privacy question, write to hello@nestgrain.com.
Information you give us
We do not operate a subscription list and we do not require an account to read anything on this site. You give us personal information only when you choose to contact us.
- Email correspondence — your name, email address and whatever you include in your message.
- Comments — where commenting is enabled, the name, email address and comment text you submit, plus your IP address and browser user agent, which WordPress records to help detect spam.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we and our service providers collect some technical information when you visit:
- IP address, approximate region derived from it, and time zone.
- Browser type and version, operating system, device type and screen size.
- Pages viewed, time on page, scroll depth, and the referring site or search that brought you here.
- Interactions with outbound links, including affiliate links.
Why we use it
- To answer your message or publish and moderate your comment.
- To understand which guides are useful, so we know what to research next.
- To keep the site secure, detect abuse, and fix technical faults.
- To attribute affiliate referrals so that commission is credited correctly.
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own independent marketing.
Legal bases
If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, we rely on these legal bases: your consent for non-essential cookies and analytics; our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving a publication; and legal obligation where the law requires us to retain records. You may withdraw consent at any time.
Third-party services
We use a small number of external providers, each of which handles data under its own privacy policy:
- Google Analytics — aggregate audience measurement. It sets cookies and processes IP-derived data.
- Amazon Associates — affiliate tracking. When you click an Amazon link, Amazon may set cookies to attribute the referral.
- Our web host and content delivery network — server logs, caching and security filtering.
- Google Fonts — typefaces served to render the site.
Cookies
This site uses cookies for essential function, analytics and affiliate attribution. What each one does, how long it lasts, and how to refuse or delete them is set out in our cookie policy.
How long we keep it
- Email correspondence — kept for up to 24 months after our last exchange, then deleted.
- Comments — retained while published, so that conversations remain readable.
- Analytics data — retained in aggregate according to our analytics provider’s configured retention period.
- Server logs — typically rotated within 30 to 90 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to our use of it, receive a portable copy, or withdraw consent. Residents of California may additionally request disclosure of the categories of information collected and opt out of any sale or sharing — we do neither.
To exercise any right, email hello@nestgrain.com. We will respond within the period required by the applicable law, generally within 30 to 45 days. We will never treat you differently for making a request.
Children
Nest Grain is written for adults furnishing their own homes and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers and security
Our providers may process data in the United States and elsewhere. Where information is transferred out of the UK or EEA, those providers rely on recognised safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses. We use HTTPS encryption and restrict administrative access, though no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices or the law change. The date at the top of the page always reflects the current version. Material changes will be flagged clearly on this page.
